Traditional automotive suppliers have core competencies for improving the driver’s safety and experience through the products they currently provide. OEM’s however, continue to expect a reduction in the costs of these features. Unless the functionality of these products is increased, suppliers will continue to receive pricing pressures and may even begin to lose their traditional product integrity through new non-traditional competitors entering their market space.   The supplier who makes a business decision to increase the “value density” of their product offerings, through innovative software based solutions, will not only reduce pricing pressures but create a position of industry leadership for themselves.

In the history of the automobile, few technologies have ever transferred directly from aerospace without having stopped somewhere else first.
